The woolly brew 4ply and laceweight yarn selection

** 3rd July 2020 - updated to reflect recent Scottish government announcement - face coverings now mandatory in shops **

Following the announcement that non-essential shops can open from the 29th June, I’m pleased to tell you that the Pittenweem shop will reopen on Thursday 2nd July.

Going forward we will be open on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Given the size of the shop, only one customer will be allowed at a time... by appointment.

To do this I have set up a booking system where you can check availability and book a slot.

I can also help organise this via email or telephone too.

I feel this appointment system will offer a nicer shopping experience - knowing you can come and browse without having to queue or feel the need to make way for someone else.

Appointments can last up to 30 minutes. If you would like longer, please book adjacent slots. If you cannot find a day or time that suits you, please let me know. I’ll try my best to accommodate requests and we may be able to organise something else.

Initially, available slots run until Saturday 15th August, but I will regularly reevaluate the situation.

Customers are required to wear a face covering.

Customers will be required to sanitise their hands when entering the shop. And if appropriate, throughout their visit. I will have some mini samples available for touching.

Also, there is no obligation to buy but if you do, card payments are preferred.

One of the best things about visiting a yarn shop is getting help understanding patterns or learning tricky techniques. I am still happy to help with all such queries, BUT we have to maintain our distance. I can demonstrate using shop materials, but please bring your own needles/hooks and yarn if you want to check or practice something in the shop.

I also want to make special mention to those that learned to knit and crochet during the lockdown and encourage them to visit. To experience a yarn shop for the first time is quite exciting, and you’ll get to do it at your own pace with one-on-one (socially distanced) help if you need it!

Remember you can browse our website beforehand to see what we have in stock. Not everything is on the website yet (especially loose patterns) so please get in touch if you have any questions. I’m happy to look out patterns or prepare some colour combos etc before you arrive.

The manner of your visit may be different but I hope it can still be a relaxing enjoyable and safe experience. And so, if after booking, you find you have COVID-19 symptoms or someone you had contact with has symptoms or you feel unwell, please cancel the appointment. There is no charge.

And remember, you can still conveniently browse and buy from our website. I can post your items or you can arrange to pick them up at the shop. This pick up is separate from an appointment.  If you want to browse the Pittenweem shop you need to make an appointment.

Apologies for the wall of text and all the rules! This is the first attempt at getting the Pittenweem shop open whilst complying with government guidelines and making it a comfortable experience for both you and me. Things will no doubt change. To have the latest info make sure you are signed up to our newsletter and/or social media. Details at the very bottom of the page!

And please be assured I will be maintaining a cleaning routine between customers (hand washing, cleaning surfaces and rotating yarn samples).

If you have any questions about this new system, or anything Woolly Brew, please let me know.

Oh, and book an appointment today. I hope to see you soon!
